BIZ Kids Coming to Fort Frances !!!

The Northwest Business Centre is pleased to announce BizKids Camps will be running for youth aged 9-12 once again this summer across the Kenora Rainy River District. This year we will be running our eighth BizKid$ Camp in Kenora, our fourth in Dryden, our second in Fort Frances and are very excited to expand the program, partnering with Chukuni Communities Development Corporation to offer our first BizKids Camp in Red Lake.

BizKid$ is a day camp that runs for 5 days. Hosted by the Northwest Business Centre in partnership with the Northern Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative, support from numerous local sponsors in each community plays an important part in delivery of this program.

The camp gives children between the ages of 9 and 12 hands-on experience with planning, organizing and operating a real storefront business. Campers gain a basic overview of entrepreneurship through exciting interactive games and activities, presentations from local entrepreneurs and field trips to local businesses. The young entrepreneurs will dream up a business idea at the beginning of the week and build their business with what they have learned, working towards the grand finale, Market Day.

On Market Day, campers will put what they've learned into action! Campers have the opportunity to set up a business and operate it for 3 hours. Nothing boosts self-esteem and confidence among young people quite like the experience of running their own business for a day and selling the product they have created themselves. says Diane Schwartz-Williams of the Northwest Business Centre. We know from previous campers that this will be an unforgettable experience, and we have seen how it instills entrepreneurial and business values, attitudes and skills that will create opportunities for campers later in life, she added.

Registration is now open for all four camps with special early bird pricing up to 2 weeks before camp dates. There are only 14 spots at each camp and they reach capacity quickly. BizKids Camps take place:

July 8th 12th in Dryden
July 22nd 26th in Red Lake
August 12th 16th in Kenora
August 19th 23rd in Fort Frances
